Thank you to all of our wonderful volunteers for your applications. We are excited to have you join us in providing assistance to the thousands of attendees from all over the US (and the world!). Here are some answers to some questions we've been asked recently, and some that we anticipate receiving:
NEWEST FAQ's (most of which were email blasted to all volunteers...Check your spam filter folder in case you didn't receive it) ARE LISTED HERE FIRST...
Are meals provided?
Yes, a meal is provided before the start of your shift, so arrive at least 30 minutes prior to your shift to check in, but even sooner if you want to eat. You can eat during briefings if you have to, or if you are booked in back-to-back shifts.
Is there wireless internet access?
Yes, the Las Vegas Convention Center offers wireless plans...Refer to the following information:
For wireless for the attendees please have them go to their web browser on their computer, visit the Smart City splash page (www.smartcity.com). This page will allow the attendee to sign up for wireless. The following rates apply:
Public IP daily costs $14.95
Private IP daily costs $12.95
Hourly IP costs $4.95
What is the Shuttle Schedule between the hotels and the Convention Center?

How do I register, get my badge, tshirt, etc.?
Check into the Volunteer Lounge when you arrive. Conference Registration for Volunteers is located in the Volunteer Lounge, not at the main Registration check-in. The Volunteer Lounge is located near the Registration area, however.
What if I didn't fax in my registration form (or I didn't receive an email confirming my form was processed)?
Don't worry...If you're getting these volunteer emails, then you are in our system and a badge can be produced on-site for you in the Volunteer Lounge.
When do I report for my shift?
Please report at least 30 minutes prior to your shift.
Where do I report for my shift?
Always sign-in and receive your assignment/location(s) from the Volunteer Lounge, which is located close to registration. Always sign-out at the end of your shift.
If you have two shifts in the same day, sign-in and sign-out for each job/assignment, before and after EACH shift.
How do I attend my free days of the conference?
Simply sign-in and sign-out at the volunteer lounge (even if your free day is before your volunteer shift, which it is in a few of your cases)
I'm a Session Host or Ambassador...Where do I go?
Check in at the Volunteer Lounge, as always...You'll be directed to your assigned room or to the Session Host area from there!
I can't attend the June 22 training from 2:00 - 5:00. How can I be trained?
We will train you on the job, so don't worry. Please arrive at least 30 minutes prior to your shift so that your Team Leader or designated Team Member has ample time to train you and deploy you to your job area.
What do I wear?
SHRM recommends Khaki pants or shorts (knee length). You'll be provided a Volunteer Polo Shirt that must be worn at all times on the job (and we'd love you to wear it all conference, if you can). Comfortable shoes are a must. Wear a light tshirt before you get your volunteer tshirt (upon registering at the volunteer lounge). Remember, some meeting rooms may be cold, so pants are recommended.
Please do not bring anything valuable, as there are no storage or lockers available. Whatever you bring, you will need to carry with you, so we suggest a fanny pack or cross-the-body purse with a long strap that won't impede your movement. SHRM, SNHRA nor anyone in the Volunteer Lounge can be responsible for anything that you may bring or leave lying around.
Can I register a guest for the Volunteer Appreciation Cocktail Party (sponsored by Jobing.com and SNHRA)?
We are accepting a limited number of guests. Please have your guest RSVP from the home page of SNHRA.org ASAP (click on the VIP Party Banner on the Home Page).
As long as the RSVP form is available, we are accepting guest RSVPs. If the link is no longer available, check with the Jobing staffers in the Volunteer Lounge.
How do I get my tickets (or my guest’s tickets) to enter the Volunteer Party?
All Volunteers who RSVP will be issued an Access Key to the party when they register in the Volunteer Lounge. Other guests will pick up their Access Key and sign-in when they arrive at the Palms for the party. The Jobing.com Volunteer Party Registration/Sign-in table is located in the entry to the Fantasy Tower.
I didn’t RSVP but I want to attend the Volunteer Party...What do I do?
Please RSVP online at http://www.jobing.com/shrmvolunteervip
If the RSVP form is no longer available by the time you read this, register with the Jobing.com staffers in the Volunteer Lounge.
What about parking?
Unfortunately, there is a fee to park at the Convention Center. However, you can park at area hotels and either walk or take the monorail to the Convention Center. Visit http://www.lvmonorail.com to find out more about monorail ticket pricing and locations.
PREVIOUS FAQ's:
How do I RSVP for the Volunteer Appreciation party hosted by Jobing.com and SNHRA? What are the details of the party?
Answer: Click on the following banner to see a video and read all about it, plus RSVP for the party, all in one place!!! See you there!

How do I see my schedule?
To see your volunteer schedule, visit "My Schedule" at: https://www.volgistics.com/ex/portal.dll/?FROM=5431
You'll need your email address (Login Name) and the password you chose in your application to sign-in. If you forgot your password, there's a link on that page to send you a reminder via email.
What if I don't have all the shifts I applied for?
If you don't see a shift that you requested on the "My Schedule" calendar, the shift was not available. The "My Assignments" area simply shows what you requested, not what you were assigned. "My Schedule" shows the reality of scheduled shifts, which were assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.
When/Why Do I need to fax the Registration Form?
If you are working only 1 or 2 shifts and only want to attend the conference
the equal number of days (1 shift = 1 day, 2 shifts = 2 days), you do not
need to fill out the registration form (which was attached to the email confirming your volunteer schedule)...Simply check-in to the
volunteer lounge the days that you want to attend for your volunteering!
If you are getting the full conference comped for three shifts, please fill
out the form and fax it in. The form also allows those working 1 or 2
shifts to pay reduced (early bird) pricing for attending the full
conference, or for volunteers to sign-up and pay for pre-conference
workshops, etc.
How will I get there and where will I stay?
Volunteers are responsible for making all their own travel arrangements. You can visit the SHRM conference site for a listing of hotels. Make your reservations for flights and hotels soon. They will fill up fast!
What about Volunteer training?
We've gotcha covered! Friday, June 22nd will be training for out of towners and locals who didn't attent the May 31st training. If you cannot attend, you will be trained on-the-job, so don't worry!
The June 22, 2-5pm training will be held in the convention center in room N115-N117. Training Sign-up/RSVP...Click here!
If you can't/didn't attend any of the trainings, here is a pdf of the powerpoint used in the training/orientation for you to review.
I'm not available for any of the scheduled trainings. What do I do?
For those of you who can't come to the May 31 nor the June 22 training, don't worry, we'll train you on-the-job. Try to arrive to your shift early to give us ample time to make sure that you're well prepared!
Early Bird Pricing; What about it?
Volunteers are guaranteed Early Bird pricing through May 31, 2007. Volunteer registration forms will be emailed once scheduling is approved. Do not register prior to receiving the form. Volunteers who work three scheduled shifts will have complimentary registration.
Volunteer Conference Registration Pricing
Complete 2 shifts: $495
Complete 1 shift: $575
Complete 3 shifts: Free Conference
Deadline for Volunteer Registration (faxed to SHRM): June 1, 2007
I'm only volunteering one or two days. How do I get into the conference when I want to attend sessions?
You must sign-in at the volunteer center each day.
As a volunteer, you may attend the conference for the remainder of the day before or after your assigned shift. If you are attending a full day of sessions you may use your volunteer badge as entry once you have checked in at the volunteer center.
Attending special sessions or doing additional conference activities?
If you wish to sign up for Super Sunday sessions, pre-conference sessions, the guest program, attendance at the Expo only or get additional concert tickets, you may do so on the registration form.
Where do I sign in as a volunteer?
All volunteers need to sign in the Volunteer Lounge at the Convention Center. Be sure to sign in each volunteer day to get credit for your volunteer shift. If you are attending sessions before your scheduled assignment, pick up your volunteer badge at the Volunteer Lounge.
What happens if I don't work my assigned volunteer shift?
The Co-Chairs are required to report volunteer hours to the SHRM staff. If you don't work your assigned shift and take advantage of the volunteer discount, you will be billed the additional fees. If you do not sign in each day at the volunteer center you could be billed for days you volunteered. Be sure to sign in each day!
Will I be receiving more information before the conference?
YES. Additional information on volunteer training and other information pertaining to volunteers will be e-mailed periodically. In the meantime, mark your calendar for June 24-27. We'll see you then in Fabulous Las Vegas, Nevada!
