VOLUNTEER INFORMATION

We will have the following volunteer opportunities (this list is subject to change):

Ambassadors
You are the face of the SHRM Conference and Exposition and your role is vital to the success of the conference.  Fun! Interactive! Visible! Helpful! Friendly!  The #1 responsibility of the Ambassador is to provide "knock your socks off" customer service to your fellow conference attendees.  You will be assisting with directions, answering questions, monitoring doors and seating during events, and assisting persons with special needs during the conference.  Ambassadors should be resourceful and become knowledgeable about Las Vegas and the conference areas.  Ambassadors are need for 6 hour shifts.

Session Hosts
The Session Host provides session room management and introduces the speaker and the session to the audience; Session Hosts must have strong presentation skills and the ability to "think on your feet."  In some cases, you may be asked to present in front of 100 or more people.  Session Support volunteers assist with distributing and collecting speaker evaluations; assist SHRM staff with any A/V, room set-up or other concerns.  Session Hosts volunteers are needed in 6-hour shifts. Those who introduce speakers are required to be current National SHRM members. Session Hosts may also be assigned to pre-conference workshops and Super Sunday Sessions.

Registration
Welcome and greet conference attendees; check for receipts and verify ID prior to providing conference bag and badge holder to attendees.  Answer questions about on-site registration and direct attendees to the appropriate locations.  Must be able to stand for lengthy periods, and bend and lift up to 20 pounds.  Registration volunteers are needed for 6 hour shifts.

SHRM Store
Assist staff in set-up, operation and tear down of the SHRM Bookstore; move inventory to the sales floor and stock in appropriate spaces; replenish merchandise as inventory is depleted; remain available and visible to answer customer questions on products and services; recommend additional items that may be of interest; safeguard all merchandise and inventory; point of sale and cash handling may or may not be necessary.

SHRM Store volunteers must able to stand, bend and lift up to 20 pounds for up to 6 hours and are needed for 6 hour shifts.

Packet Stuffing
Help stuff conference bags before the conference.  Packet Stuffing is done the Thursday and Friday prior to the Conference.  The synergy and team building starts here!!!  Volunteers must be able to stand and walk for a 6-hour shift.  Dress is casual clothes and comfortable shoes; lunch and refreshments will be provided by SHRM to volunteers that are working.

Special Projects
Volunteers are also needed to staff a variety of activities Thursday - Sunday, including filling in for volunteers MIA.  If variety is your thing, this job is for you.
