Keith Urban Ticket Order (on a Vol. Reg. Form) Deadline

Additional Keith Urban tickets are available by filling out an additional registration form with a request and payment information. Request and payment must be submitted by June 15, 2011.

When is the Registration form deadline?

Volunteer Registration forms must be faxed in by Friday, June 10, 2011. Instructions for filling out and faxing in the form were provided in the same email. If you did not fax in your form (if you were required to because you are a three shift Volunteer), please email us with the subject "FORGOT TO SUBMIT FORM" so that we can track your registration for SHRM.

Is there a way to link up with other Volunteers traveling to Las Vegas for Ride or Room Sharing?

Click here to access a Facebook Page for our Volunteers who are traveling from out-of-town and are interested in room or ride-sharing for the 2011 SHRM Annual Conference. Please post your information and travel plans and review others' posted info and reply directly to their postings to coordinate.

SHRM and/or SNHRA is providing this link and account set-up as a courtesy and assumes no liability for any arrangements and/or contacts made through this Facebook page. By using this area, you are taking full responsibility for your postings and/or actions.

What about transportation once I'm in Las Vegas?

Citizens Area Transit (CAT; 702-228-7433, 800-228-3911; www.catride.com) operates city and suburban bus routes usually from 5am to 2am daily, with the double-decker Deuce buses running 24/7 along the Strip and to downtown. The regular fare is $1.25 per ride, except on Deuce buses ($2); exact change is required. Free transfers, timetables with maps, and 24-hour passes ($5) are available from drivers and at the Downtown Transportation Center (DTC; 300 N Casino Center Blvd; 7am-5:30pm).

Fast, fun and fully wheelchair accessible, the Monorail (702-699-8299; www.lvmonorail.com) connects the Sahara to the MGM Grand, stopping at major Strip megaresorts along the way, and operating from 7am to 2am Monday to Thursday and until 3am Friday through Sunday. A single ride costs $5; a 24-hour pass is $15.

In addition, SHRM provides shuttle service between most hotels and the Las Vegas Convention Center. A schedule of shuttle buses will be posted on this site closer to the event date, and schedules will also be provided in your onsite materials.

How do I receive Recertification Credits for the days/sessions I attend?

Once the conference has ended, visit the HRCI website and enter the conference ID that will be provided onsite at the conference. That will give you the maximum credits, provided you attended the full conference. For one or two shift Volunteers who didn't purchase additional days, you will simply list the sessions you attended individually on the HRCI site.

Am I going to receive a confirmation after faxing my registration form?

Yes, you do receive confirmation after SHRM proccesses your registration form.

Will there be luggage storage offered at the convention center for a fee?

Yes, there will be luggage storage service at the convention center for a nominal fee.

Are Session Hosts eligible for HRCI Re-Certification Credits?

Session hosts can get recertification credit for the sessions that they host, though you they must remain in the room for the FULL session. Remember, Session Hosts MUST be SHRM members.

Should I register for the conference?

No. Volunteers should not register for the conference via the normal channels (SHRM.org/mail/phone). We send a special Volunteer Registration Form to each Volunteer applicant that we process. This form has early bird pricing for those that need to purchase additional days, pre-cons, extra concert tickets etc., or are working 3 shifts for a free full conference. You will receive a confirmation after SHRM proccesses your registration form.
Normally, if you are working 1 to 2 shifts and are only attending conference for the same number of days, you can simply check in and out at the volunteer lounge with no registration form needed. More info regarding the special volunteer registration form will be forthcoming as we get closer to the conference.

How do I register for the pre-conference workshops?

Volunteers can add pre-conference workshops on the bottom of their special registration form. Just write in the number of the workshop. Or, you can attach a note to their registration form. Please note that pre-conference workshops are different from conference registration and that there are no discounts for volunteers, so payment will be expected at registration. The cost is $325 for one workshop and $550 for two workshops.

What if I have already registered for the conference?

There is a reimbursement process in place once your Volunteer application has been processed and you've selected your shifts. You can access our self-scheduling system from the link emailed to you in the "Your Application has been processed" email/pdf.

Once you've scheduled your shift(s), please email us with a request for reimbursement. Please indicate the amount and any other payment information you have (who the check was from, check #, name of registrant (you), etc.)

We will forward that request to Feborah Dixon at SHRM to handle the processing of your refund, once we've verified the number of shift(s) you've scheduled.

Are meals provided?

Yes, a meal is provided before the start of your shift, so arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your shift to check in, but even sooner if you want to eat. You can eat during briefings if you have to, or if you are booked in back-to-back shifts.

What do I wear?

SHRM recommends Khaki pants or shorts (knee length). You'll be provided a Volunteer Polo Shirt that must be worn at all times on the job (and we'd love you to wear it all conference, if you can). Comfortable shoes are a must. Wear a light t-shirt before you get your volunteer tshirt (upon registering at the volunteer lounge). Remember, some meeting rooms may be cold, so pants are recommended.

Please do not bring anything valuable, as there are no storage or lockers available. Whatever you bring, you will need to carry with you, so we suggest a fanny pack or cross-the-body purse with a long strap that won't impede your movement. SHRM, SNHRA nor anyone in the Volunteer Lounge can be responsible for anything that you may bring or leave lying around.

What about parking?

Unfortunately, there is a fee to park at the Convention Center. However, you can park at area hotels and either walk or take the monorail to the Convention Center. Visit http://www.lvmonorail.com to find out more about monorail ticket pricing and locations.

How do I see my schedule?

To see your volunteer schedule, visit "My Schedule" at:   https://www.volgistics.com/ex/portal.dll/?FROM=5431   You'll need your email address (Login Name)  and the password you chose in your application to sign-in.  If you forgot your password, there's a link on that page to send you a reminder via email.

What if I don't have all the shifts I applied for?

If you don't see a shift that you requested on the "My Schedule" calendar, the shift was not available.  The "My Assignments" area simply shows what you requested, not what you were assigned. "My Schedule" shows the reality of scheduled shifts, which were assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.

How will I get there and where will I stay?

Volunteers are responsible for making all their own travel arrangements. You can visit the SHRM conference site for a listing of hotels. Make your reservations for flights and hotels soon. They will fill up fast!

How do I attend my free days of the conference?

Simply sign-in and sign-out at the volunteer lounge (even if your free day is before your volunteer shift, which it is in some cases).

What about Volunteer training?

We will be scheduling training prior to the conference, for those who can attend. More information with be forthcoming via email.

I'm not available for any of the scheduled trainings. What do I do?

For those of you who can't come to pre-conference volunteer training, don't worry, we'll train you on-the-job. Try to arrive to your shift early to give us ample time to make sure that you're well prepared!

How do I get into the conference when I want to attend sessions? I'm only volunteering one or two days.

You must sign-in at the volunteer center each day. As a volunteer, you may attend the conference for the remainder of the day before or after your assigned shift. If you are attending a full day of sessions you may use your volunteer badge as entry once you have checked in at the volunteer center.

Attending special sessions or doing additional conference activities?

If you wish to sign up for Super Sunday sessions, pre-conference sessions, the guest program, attendance at the Expo only or get additional concert tickets, you may do so on the special volunteer registration form that will be emailed to you.

Where do I sign in as a volunteer?

All volunteers need to sign in the Volunteer Lounge at the Convention Center.  Be sure to sign in each volunteer day to get credit for your volunteer shift. If you are attending sessions before your scheduled assignment, pick up your volunteer badge at the Volunteer Lounge.

What happens if I don't work my assigned volunteer shift?

The Co-Chairs are required to report volunteer hours to the SHRM staff.  If you don't work your assigned shift and take advantage of the volunteer discount, you will be billed the additional fees. If you do not sign in each day at the volunteer center you could be billed for days you volunteered. Be sure to sign in each day!

Will I be receiving more information before the conference?

YES.  Additional information on volunteer training and other information pertaining to volunteers will be e-mailed periodically.

Is there wireless internet access?

Yes, the Las Vegas Convention Center offers wireless plans, in addition to our internet access area(s) of the conference.

How do I register, get my badge, tshirt, etc.?

Check into the Volunteer Lounge when you arrive. Conference Registration for Volunteers is located in the Volunteer Lounge, not at the main Registration check-in.

When do I report for my shift?

Please report at least 15 minutes prior to your shift, more if you need to eat before your shift.

Where do I report for my shift?

Always sign-in and receive your assignment/location(s) from the Volunteer Lounge, which is located close to registration. Always sign-out at the end of your shift.

If you have two shifts in the same day, sign-in and sign-out for each job/ assignment, before and after EACH shift.

I'm a Session Host or Ambassador...Where do I go?

Check in at the Volunteer Lounge, as always...You'll be directed to your assigned room or to the Session Host Room from there!

Does SHRM offer discounted hotels for volunteers?

Unfortunately, we do not offer discounts on hotel rooms for volunteers. But, we still have many rooms available at great rates for Las Vegas in 2011!
