Tactics for Tough Times

Presented By: Dave Newton, SPHR (bio)

The sweet days of Las Vegas’ booming growth are long gone now. The robust economy made it easy for businesses to look good. Many companies were starring in their own versions of “How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying.”

We face a stark reality in Las Vegas today: if there is a recovery, it seems clear that it won’t be a strong one. It’s likely we are going to face quite a few years of tough times. During this difficult and highly competitive economic environment well-run businesses will survive and poorly-run businesses will fail.

There will be intense and increasing pressure in both the public and private sectors to do more with less. There will be increased numbers of employees afraid of losing their jobs, resentful about increased work responsibilities (with little or no pay increases), and upset about coworkers who have been laid off and who can’t find work.

In this challenging environment the role of human resources will become more important than ever, because in this environment employee productivity and customer satisfaction can be the difference between the success or failure of a business, between people having jobs and looking for jobs.

This presentation will show human resource professionals how to use the survey feedback process to improve their organization’s productivity and customer service. It will present a model of human performance and demonstrate how to apply this model to improve organizational results.

HR professionals will learn a straightforward and practical way to play a more influential, valuable role within their organizations at a time when their organizations need their expertise more than ever.
