Part III - HR Practices
Las Vegas has been through one of the worst recessions in our history. And while we’re not out of the woods yet, some of us are starting to see light at the end of the tunnel. In recognition of the current economic situation, the focus of this year’s Original “Best Places to Work in Southern Nevada (sm)” awards will be placed on the organization’s best practices both to weather the storm and to prepare for a brighter economic picture. The goal is to recognize outstanding HR practices for organizations who have been able to survive the past couple of years as well as those that were the lucky few to thrive in the current economy.

Please describe some of the unique contributions that your HR practices or programs have made toward the organization’s overall success in tough economic times.  Please highlight any HR practices or initiatives that have helped your organization achieve its objectives.

Suggestion: You might want to choose just two or three of the practice areas listed below and describe how each contributes to organizational performance and employee satisfaction.

1.  Unique and successful HR initiatives
2.  Employee communication
3.  Work/Life Balance
4.  Employee relations/morale
5.  Participation and/or support for community involvement
6.  Downsizing with dignity -or- Creative and successful ways to avoid downsizing

7.  Managing survivors
